Cheap air travel, technology and overly enthusiastic governments have increased the appeal of internationalizing oneself. We’d go so far as to say that not doing so is foolhardy.
We created this site for the “30 to 50-somethings,” not the “20-somethings” (although the lessons will be immensely valuable to anyone, in any age group). We are the demographic that can’t simply throw on a backpack and forget the world we left behind. We have families, friends, colleagues and responsibilities beyond our next beer or conquest of a “friendly” local. We’ve frankly found that most of the sites available focus on backpackers or retirees. What about the rest of us? What about the 40 year old with two kids, a spouse and a business to run? Are they too old to travel and too young to retire? No way!
Jumping into the expat lifestyle is easy when young and single, however running multiple businesses, schooling our children, and ensuring peaceful and happy relationships with spouses brings a lot more to the table than might otherwise be the case. We’ve managed to pull it off, and we’ll show you how you can too.
We often hear the excuse that living an expat lifestyle, or even just internationalizing oneself, is too difficult and/or irresponsible because of family and work commitments. To the contrary, we believe that it is a fundamental responsibility to internationalize your family to expose them to the maximum opportunity and safety that it can bring. Our children experience multiple cultures first-hand. They speak multiple languages – fluently. They are “safer” with multiple passports, so as to not be subject to the parasitic grip of governments gone out of control. Think about it.
In this site we share with you the trials and tribulations of our own journeys, and those of our friends who are enjoying the fruits of the wide, wonderful world we live in. We’ve done it, and while it hasn’t been easy it sure beats the 9-5 slog.
Herein you will learn about the best places to spend time, the right people to go to for help, how to get there and what to do first! You’ll read entertaining real-life stories from the road. You’ll get recipe and health tips to keep you in tip top shape. We’ll provide you with opportunities to get our special reports, like our New Zealand Immigration, Retirement and Lifestyle Guidebook. This is the first in a series of reports designed to help our readers find the “perfect” place for themselves and their families.
It is our singulare desire that you will come away with some ideas on how to structure your life in an “international” way. Please drop us a line with comments, questions or suggestions. We’re learning too, and we are never to thick-headed to consider others viewpoints.
To living your own Expat Exploits!
